The 5 Most Important Taekwondo Kicks



1. Roundhouse Kick

A Roundhouse Kick (also called a Round Kick, Turning Kick, or Dollyeo Chagi). Kick using instep of the foot, released while body is turning 45 degrees.

2. Front Kick

A Front Kick (also called a Front Snap Kick, Flash Kick, or Ap Chagi). Direct front snap kick that targets the opponent’s chin or torso.

3. Axe Kick

1n Axe Kick (also called a Hammer Kick, Downward Kick, or Naeryeo Chagi). Is a Front kick in which one kicks downward with a straight leg.

4. Back Kick

A Back Kick (also called Spinning Back Kick, Horse Kick, Donkey Kick, Mule Kick, or dwi chagi). Turn around kick, released when back is facing opponent (performed by kicking backward, behind you, like a horse).

5. Side Kick

A Side Kick (also Side Piercing Kick or Yeop Chagi). Body twists while lifting leg, kick is released while facing opponent sideways.
